History of the Cow Cafe'

Established in 1964, the Cow Cafe' was not always a cafe. In the late 1930's (no one really know specifically what year), the buidling itself was built. Bob Baker opened a butchar shop on this location.

In 1941 the building burned to ground, killing 3 of the employees and 7 cows that were trapped inside. Bob was not discouraged and rebuilt the building 6 months later.

In 1955 a bolt of lightning struck Bob while he was taking a smoke break out back, killing him instantly. While the bolt of lightning did not cause any damage to the building, the cigarette Bob was smoking did. For the 2nd time in it's history the building burned to the ground, this time claiming 2 employees and 3 cows.

In 1956 Bob's brother, Roy, who also worked there since it's original opening day, rebuild the butchar shop once more. He was able to keep it going for 5 years.

In August of 1961 Roy, a little feeble of mind, managed to sever his left hand while trying to cut up some beef for a customer. With blood everywhere, both his and the cow's, Roy went into a fit of rage. He was eventually admitted to the University Hospital, where he soon died of blood-loss (something that could have been prevented but he refused any health-care).

Newly risen, Roy decided that being in the butchar business was no longer his calling. In 1964 Roy gutted the butchar shop and turned it into the Cow Cafe'. To this day patrons claim to hear cow bells coming from the walls (but those in know; know it's just Roy having a good go at their expence).
